Five Ways to Help Bring Hope

For The Wellspring Christmas Dinner Appeal this year we have been mindful of the financial situation that everybody finds themselves in to some degree or other. As you will no doubt be aware, we rely, and are grateful for, the continuing donations from our supporters throughout the year. The Christmas Dinner Appeal in particular is the perfect example of just how understanding, caring, and generous they all are.

It’s Good To Talk

When we launched this year’s campaign, we got together to look for ways that we could suggest how five pounds can be spent in the days and weeks leading up to Christmas. The idea being that although we do know times are tough, there may be an opportunity for some supporters to help without having to make any big compromises to their own lives and finances.

The first one we chose to share was about saving the cost of Christmas cards and speaking to the people you care about directly. This may seem quite a simple switch in order to be able to donate. However, there really is a much larger idea behind it.

Talking and encouraging people to share is such a huge part of what we do. The Christmas Dinner isn’t just about feeding mouths and giving out gifts. It’s about allowing the people that we serve an opportunity to gather, to connect, to feel seen and part of a community.

Christmas Connections

Just like every family or community Christmas gathering across the length and breadth of the country, it can never be guaranteed to be an easy ride without drama or challenging situations of course.

Our staff and volunteers work hard all year to respond to each of our service user’s own personalities, situations, and life experiences in order to help them in the most successful way.

Just like families do.

People Need People

More than ever, we are all bombarded with images and ideas of the spirit of Christmas at this time of year. Celebrations and reflections are impossible to ignore in our offices, streets, and town centres. For those that are already isolated or vulnerable, this can be a daunting and overwhelming period. The Wellspring Christmas Dinner wants to respond to them, include them, and ultimately help them.

In 2022, we began to develop the way we communicated with our supporters and the wider world. We wanted a neat way of summing up the work that we do, and we always returned to the two ideas of hope and change.

Hope really does help

As the year turns, we all need to feel that things can and do change for the better in our individual situations.

Change really does work

The Wellspring is fortunate to see these changes in our users first-hand throughout the year. It is only through the immense support and donations from you that we can make this happen.

And we want to make it happen for as many people as possible this Christmas.
